This is a question about testing, and also about removal/replacement if it fails the test
I think I need to do some testing of my fuel pressure regulator, especially if my pressure gauge shows insufficient pressure at the rail. (I'll find out in the morning.) Looking at the down/return hose, I'm a little intimidated. Looks like just a rubber hose with a small spring-clamp on it, but there's no spare length at all. I pulled the bolts on the regulator mount and there's no extra room at all. If I have to cut the end to remove it from the bayonet end of the regulator, I can't retrim it to fit.
What's on the bottom end of that hose? It looks like there must be a similar fitting that adapts it to the plastic return hose that goes back to the tank. Should I just slit both ends to ease removal (and protect the plastic hose) and replace the rubber?
Can I just clamp the rubber hose shut as a test, or is squishing a 24-year-old rubber hose just asking for trouble?
Any pro-tips here?
(1989 900 normally-aspirated. LH 2.4 3-bar regulator.)
