C900 are the cars from those days, trees were bigger and ladies were better...
I mean, C900 date back to the era when every manufacturer used his own protocols. This means that if a tool does not mention Saab 900 1990-1993 in the specs then I would not expect it to support one.
You need either Saab SRS tool or TechII diagnostic tool (a common thing for GM vehicles too, it just needs Saab firmware to be uploaded) and TechII-to-SRS adapter. You can find photos and wiring explanations for the later on this BB.
As for using the used SRS parts - I'm running a used crash sensor. And I'm fine with that. And I would definitely choose going the used part route when choosing between black-tape trick (or bulb removal, whatever) and junkyard. But de gustibus non est disputandum.
