Reinstalling the Gear Lever Housing. Help with bolts? Posted by vsfoxe [Email] (#1025) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vsfoxe) on Thu, 15 Aug 2013 18:22:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
1992 900T hatchback 5-speed. Removed and fixed a problem with ignition switch simply turning, due to two broken tabs underneath it. I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to reinstall the Gear Lever Housing. The 2 front bolts had fallen out of the slotted location. What holds them in?!? All I see is a carriage-type bolt, and a slotted hole. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to get the 2 bolts to stay in place, while I get the Gear Lever Housing forward and up and over the bolts? I tried gently bending the "spring Washers" to hold - no luck there. I tried duct taping the bolts into place, too. Either way the bolts seem too high to get the housing forward over the bolts so I can get the Housing down over the bolts. I'm out of patience - fortunately this is the Winter Beater! TIA. Vern
