Base of the lock cylinder probably broke Posted by RS [Email] (#15) [Profile/Gallery] (more from RS) on Sat, 31 Aug 2013 15:00:51 In Reply to: Ignition Cylinder: Free turninig, 9000 AerO, Sat, 31 Aug 2013 14:32:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Worst case, you can swap shifter assemblies with the one from your parts car.
Best case, you can get a new key cylinder from a place like eEuro and have a locksmith key it to match the original.
If you can pull the lock cylinder core out with the key (I was able to with mine), you can start and stop it with a large-bladed screwdriver.
Here's a partial procedure for removing the lock cylinder. To get to the point where the procedure starts, you'll need to remove the driver's seat and disassemble the center console. Once you get there, you'll be able to see if the ignition gearset turns when you turn the key.
The other possibility is that one of the ignition gears broke.
