Yep, turned out to be the slave. I took it all apart, and had my wife press the pedal down...fluid was gushing everywhere. Most of it ended up collecting in the bottom of the pan, so there was never any evidence. Today, I spent disassembling the entire clutch assembly to get the slave out. The clutch disc doesn't look too terribly worn, but I guess I'll replace it anyways, insurance in case it got any fluid on it too. Throwout bearing was in VERY bad shape. Surprisingly, it wasn't making much noise though.
I took some pictures after using the "three fat nuts" trick to removing the clutch, since nobody online had pictures of this procedure.
What are your thoughts on rebuild vs replace when it comes to the slave cylinder? I've heard some of you all having issues with the replacement ones, and this is an OEM SAAB one.
I also noticed that at some point in time, the rubber boot was not re-installed after it was serviced. Is this an important part that is needed to keep dirt out? Would the lack thereof cause the slave cylinder to go bad? (IE dirt getting in there?)
