Pro parts fuel pump fitting problems

After determining that the fuel pump in the car was low pressure -- 25psi on a 3 bar FPR, and the fuel pressure check valve was not holding pressure in the rail ( I connect a fuel gauge directly to the rail ), I replaced the fuel check valve first. Held pressure. Started up the car and it would show good pressure until throttle was opened, and then pressure would drop off dramatically.

I put in a new ( brand spankin' new Pro Parts ) from our site sponsor, and couldn't get the BRAND NEW fuel check valve to go into the fitting on the pump. It was extremely tight, and I worked it until the elbow fitting was seated. Started car, and showed much better pressure, but would drop off dramatically. Thought I might have forced the elbow check valve to cease flow from the compression of the housing. Pulled off the hose, and hot wired the pump. No fuel comes out the elbow. Checked the fuel supply line to see if it was clogged ( new filter just in the last month ) and it was fine. Pulled out the elbow that was stuck pretty darn good, and in the process broke off the barb that was too tight to begin with. Checked to see if fuel would flow out of the fitting without the elbow and it was fine.

So, I have a brand new bad fuel pump, a brand new bad elbow, and an old fuel pump that has low pressure which upon close examination must have the Bosch pump instead of the Walbro -- the supply line is 10mm and the pump looks completely different than the slender Walbro I'm used to.

OK, so now you know what I've gone through and wondering if anyone else has had difficulty with the new Pro Parts fuel pump fittings and non OE elbow fuel check valves.

Dangit, I had just had the tank filled with fuel yesterday.........
