Maybe should check ignition relay Posted by Walt [Email] (#2707) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Walt) on Tue, 29 Oct 2013 08:29:42 In Reply to: A battery powered AMC ?, jimmy, Mon, 28 Oct 2013 22:44:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Had somewhat similar gremlins that were traced to an overheated ignition relay & connectors. The problem was fixed after replacing relay and re-soldering the fat wires that overheated on their crimp connectors, turning the copper to red dust coated copper wire. A tip off to overheat condition was melted plastic relay wire holder around the two female fat spade connectors. Have seen similar melting, wire/connector corrosion around copper spade terminal connector on headlight relay. Result was high/low beam switching without any input from turn signal & high/low beam control stalk.
