Rob,
and no, I'm not talking about those rings they make when the tooth fairy comes after you. On '89 and earlier ('88 in a case of 9K model) models there were used 94-tooth rings which the speed sensors work with. In the model year of 1990 the system design was slightly changed and from now on they used 46-toth rings.
Nowadays you can hardly find replacement hubs for the rear axle and rings for the CV-joints (for the front axle) for the early design. So make sure your donor features the later version: Saab ABS Service manual says it was the year of 1989 which featured the early design (and the EPC says it's the same 8973406 rear wheel hub on 1993 and 1990 models with ABS installed), but Bentley electrical diagram makes me suspect the year of 1990 to possible feature the early design. So you'd better check it on your '90 car or use later C900 as donor.
Zig
P.S.
The only electronics involved in this is the ABS ECU - there's no need to also install any Jetronic, Trionic, Motronic and other hrenovic (gizmonic) stuff. The electrics are the wheel speed sensors, the valves in the valve block and the master valve, the pressure switch, the fluid level sensor and the indicator in the instrument cluster. If you don't install the MkII electro-hydraulic unit and stay with the vacuum booster then you don't need the master valve and pressure sensor.
