followup on hard pull to right

Some may remember that my 91 900T will sometimes pull to the right when braking. It seems like it will only pull if if the brake pedal is applied abruptly, though not always. If the pedal is applied normally and then I brake hard it will track straight. I inspected the left caliper (rebuilt, last year) and the guide pins were sticking slightly so I cleaned and regreased those. No difference. I then tried bleeding that caliper thinking that perhaps there is air. With the bleeder open, system pressurized, key on, I pressed the pedal and a little fluid came out but only when I pushed the pedal down. I can get fluid out if I open the valve, push and hold the pedal down, then close the valve but I believe with the pump fluid should come out if the valve is open and I press on the brake pedal slightly. I didn't try the right side since I only had one wheel off. Am I right in thinking more fluid should be coming out? Has anyone bypassed the valve assembly?
