Never succeeded from "outside", but OK from "inside" Posted by iveand [Email] (#3155) [Profile/Gallery] (more from iveand) on Mon, 14 Apr 2014 06:53:01 In Reply to: Outer CV Joint Clip, tweetiedancer, Sun, 13 Apr 2014 18:00:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I indeed was trying to "spread" the outer CV clip, and had a helper holding the shaft while I spread the clip and attempted to "jiggle it free". We ended up giving up on that side, and went for removing the inner CV tripod bearing.
I am under the impression my outer CV was in good condition: the tear in the boot had been caught in time so there was no debris in there. Attempted to get as much grease inside the new boot as I could, and have re-assembled.
Steering members should be returned from shop in the next day or so, and I have 4 ball joints coming in (also the tie-rod ends were torn, so have gotten them). Hopefully after all back together it will be smooth!
Thanks again to all for the advice.
