It seems to me that Saab shocks last a long time. I've never had them be completely blown out. I replace them for fun because I have several sets of newish ones from junkyard pickings. The lower bushing is what I've seen fail a lot more than the shock itself. That bushing isn't too tough a job if you can get the shocks out. Shock removal can be a tough job if you're anywhere near winter salt country. I've done that lower shock bushing on the car with a large socket and some bolts and washers from Tractor Supply The outer sway bushings aren't too tough as a DIY job if you have a vice.
