Back on road after cv boot & bearing(s) replacement Posted by iveand [Email] (#3155) [Profile/Gallery] (more from iveand) on Mon, 21 Apr 2014 19:27:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Well, back on the road again after finishing up the cv boot and front wheel bearings replacement. Along the way, swapped out all 4 ball joints (3 seemed loose), and also new tie-rod ends (both were torn). Luckily I had caught the cv boot tear in time and there wasn't and debris inside, so a re-pack with grease and it was good to go.
It was so nice to finish the job and hear the quiet while turning slight corners (that is where the grumbling from the bearings was the worst before). Mainly it was nice to know that indeed the grumbling had been diagnosed correctly (thanks to this board).
While taking it for a ride, stopped at a light next to 300-class Mercedes in great shape. He gave a toot on the horn and some big thumbs up to the SPG, which I returned to his great example of a "real Diesel".
