SAAB 9000 to the rescue Posted by Haskell60 [Email] (#1511) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Haskell60) on Sun, 4 May 2014 17:49:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I ran into a funny situation and thought that I would share it for those that might run across this.
THE PROBLEM: I have a 1992 base model car that has the engine, transmission and wiring harness from my old 1990 Red SPG that rusted out (RIP El Diablo). So my car has the new style skinny center console with the spot for a large window switchpack (with a plug for the switchpack as a whole). However, my window switch wires are all run individually to the switchpack, circa 1990. So I had the small 1990 switchpack bouncing around in a large empty spot in my console-annoying.
THE SOLUTION: After months of research, I discovered that the 1986-1989 SAAB 9000 window switchpack was a large switchpack, but still had individual switch plugs. I got a second hand one, full of working window switches, and it fit the console perfectly. Amazingly, all the window switches in the switchpack work and the bulbs are still bright. So, in addition to the proper fitting switchpack, I now also have a spare set of switches.
On to the next project!
