No spring compressor required. Support the car on jack stands so the rear axle is dropped down and supported in position on blocks or stands. Place a hydraulic jack under the spring perch, remove the upper shock nut and pull the long bolt holding the rear axle to the control arm. Ease off the jack and the control arm will drop down along with the sway bar to relieve the springs. Easiest to do both sides simultaneously to get the sway bar fully out of the way. You can also just remove the two long bolts holding the bearing at the front of the control arm to the body. This is the quick way to remove rear springs at the boneyard if you don't have access to jacks and they've permanently blocked the car.
