Happy owner of a "new" 900s :) Posted by Ilovemountains [Email] (#1318) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ilovemountains) on Thu, 15 May 2014 17:11:22 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am the lucky "new" owner of the ice blue 1985 900s 8v 4 door 5 speed that is the last listing in the pre 93 900 classifieds! Its getting picked up in CA in the morning and is being trucked all the way east to WV!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I cant wait, I spoke to the mechanic that's worked on it since 1992, its had oil changes every 3k,ALL maint records, 25k on a clutch, new pwr steering rack etc even receipts for every tank of gas up till 2012 etc etc.
I'm psyched!
My very first car was a 1987 900 8v 5 speed 4 door, this is basically the same car only my "new" 85 has slightly different lights, bumpers, seats and a sunroof. I've owned a few 900s over the years since then, my current is a 1986 900s 16v 2 door notchback, which I plan on listing this week as in a 5 weeks Ill be the proud father of my first son!
I never thought Id find another early 5 speed car that's this documented and 100% clean! They are almost impossible to find on the east coast... I do hope its all that I've been told and have seen in many, many pictures since its a done deal!!!
Any input on what you may or may not do to it once you have it in your hands would be greatly appreciated. I do have a NOS rear trunk spoiler that I bought from a dealership years ago in the UK that will be getting installed on it and a center console from a ridiculously clean, totaled 88 900s that I bought this past summer and stripped. I plan on getting 4 new tires road forced balanced, new speakers and a modern head unit. Probably will drain and flush every fluid and drive it, not in the snow and salt but it will get driven, daily! I will probably take it to a body shop I've used many times and have the entire bottom steamed and undercoated with 3M Body Shutz undercoat, I used it on my 74 Karmann Ghia and its held up great!
My 86 had some rust that the sunroof caused, the 85 will be garaged 90% of the time as I can park in a garage at work too but will see rain, any suggestions on making sure the floor and floor insulation will stay dry?
Sorry for the long post but like I said, I'm super excited to have a clean car on its way to me! Matt
