Misdiagnosed No Run/Misfire Problem Posted by SaabAficionado [Email] |
87T. Ok, so I thought I had a bad fuel pump relay (LH). Replaced it under the dash, started it up and ran great...for 4 to 5 min...then died. This has happened 3 times even before I changed the relay. Starts up when cold, runs perfectly then dies 4 to 5 min. later. On GM cars from the 70's, if the ignition control module goes the car will usually start up, run for a few seconds then die so I'm figuring it sounds like ICM. I tested it according to Bentley at the coil 15 ans 1 terminal but didn't get a reading on the up to 20 volt multimeter range so I switched it to milivolts and got a reading of 056. Anyway, Bentley says I should get about 5 volts for a second or 2 and then it should drop to zero. It did not. It just stayed on 056. Pretty sure I'm screwing up the test. Anybody?
