I tried this once on fuel line and it over-softened it. Can't trust the joint not to leak even if you don't melt or re-kink the line.
This board has had the how-to-make, and used to link to pix of, a diy fitting press - A block of oak, bored for the line, then sawed in two, so it clamps tight onto the line with two bolts run thru it with wing nuts. Another block, to hold head of banjo, sucked over to the clamping blocks with two other long bolts with wing nuts. Don't extend too much of the plastic line at a time or it wants to fold over and kink - - stick a little out, get fitting started in, stick a little more out, till it's pushed home. Do some searches.
You can instead use the clamping block of a tubing flaring tool, and tap a fitting in with a hammer. Same idea, just stick a little of the tubing out at a time.
Remember you have to have the banjo clocked right to land flat where it bolts up. No twisting that nylon line once the fitting is pushed into it.
