Ignition / Distributor / Electrical problem! No start!

My 1993 CE was running great but then died on me out of nowhere, and i could not get her started again. I found that the wires inside the distributor were all shredded somehow from the turning of the rotor i guess. I'm not sure how that would happen.
So i installed a working distributor from my 1994 900 convertible turbo (same exact setup) but now i am getting no spark at all from either the spark plug wires or the wire coming from the coil to the center of the distributor. I am also noticing that there is no fuel pump noise at all when i am cranking it like i usually hear. The fuses look good.
Any ideas what might have been ruined by those wires getting shredded and maybe shorted out? Or what else i can look at? And ideas would be appreciated!
