For what it's worth I've used Honda MTL in my '86 900S since having a rebuilt transmission installed over 160,000 miles ago and it's still tight and quiet. I do change the MTL frequently (every other engine oil change), having toasted C900 transmissions in the past as I did not initially realize how relatively fragile they are. (The '85 900 that I purchased new did not even make it to 90,000 miles before the trans failed!)
From what I've read, modern 10W30 motor oil may not have additives needed for the transmission. Redline is good stuff, but expensive for doing frequent oil changes.
Of course this car has a transmission drain plug which makes it an easy chore to take care of while changing the engine oil.
