The Saab 99 EMS came with a quick ratio manual steering rack. Very difficult to locate now days unfortunately. Whenever I purchase a used 900, the first service I do is fluid changes throughout. This includes disconnecting the power steering return line & purging the system. Have the front wheels in the air & some one helping in the car to move the steering wheel back & forth as you run the fluid through. Disconnect not cut the return line as it is reinforced with steel mesh between the rubber layers. Utilise the correct fluid! Interesting that the 9K model has a filter in the fluid res. but the 900 does not. Another suggestion is whenever you do a LOF, remove as much fluid from the p/s reservoir as possible (suction gun or turkey baster) then refill.
