the bears mostly stay out of the garage, but my trouble is 'coons. So far the worst they have done is piss on our '93 - they climb around in the rafters and chew crap. What a mess. A few blocks over, a guy found a bear in their swimming pool. I am glad to have not found mice in any of our cars. Good idea to drive even the garage queens once in a while and the mice may not be so interested.
Tearing out the carpets is a fair bit of work, at least if you discover the floors are rusted... that's how I spent a good deal of my free time last fall. Depressing. I think I have come to the conclusion that everyone should pull their carpets and throw away the sound deadening, er, sponge... that crap soaks up any moisture and holds it against the metal floor promoting rust. Car rusts from the inside out!
