86 900s 8v 5 speed random brake failure? Booster???? Posted by Ilovemountains [Email] (#1318) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ilovemountains) on Sun, 31 Aug 2014 12:19:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Any ideas as to what would cause the brakes to intermittently completely fail on an 86 900? They will be working fine then you go to press the pedal and it’s as if you’ve opened a bleeder valve, pump it and your good. If you shut the engine off and pump them a few times the pedal is rock solid and holds. Is this a sign of the booster failing? One would think that it would have a failsafe mode that if it is in fact failing, it would just stop applying boost and still allow the brakes to be applied manually. Any thoughts or input? Could it be the master? I don’t have any odd hissing, no loss of fluid and other than when this issue surfaces the brakes work fine. It’s a little unnerving to be coming up to a stop sign with good pressure and then the pedal just starts to move toward the carpet!
