What's really going on here? Posted by ChrisMiami [Email] (#1592) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ChrisMiami) on Wed, 1 Oct 2014 13:47:36 In Reply to: No start cause? Well, although I think it's going to be a good idea to ensure a perfectly sealed vacuum system, none of the hoses were in any different shape before or after the problem, so I still don't quite understand how this could apply to:
- why the car didn't start in the first place
- why cold starts have difficulty getting to idle (zoom/choke cycle)
- why pressing the throttle kept the car started
- why the car was willing to remain started after driving with throttle pressed for 30 min
- why the car started and idled OK after sitting for 2 hrs
Note: the car started OK when I got in this morning, then I drove on the highway "with gusto" cuz I was a lil late; I parked for 1 hr, then it wouldn't stay running without throttle pressure - until it ran for 30 minutes and then it was OK to idle.
Something about all this really feels like not vacuum hoses...
As Scotty said, "It's this not knowin' I can't stand!"
