Hello,
A weak pressure plate could do that. You should also do a visual inspection to make sure nothing is leaking in there that could be causing it to slip.
As far as the boost being in the red the modifications you have made and those wonderful weather conditions could be responsible for that. I believe you do have a fuel shut off that will disrupt power to the fuel pump if it senses overboost conditions. You may want to adjust the pressure at which it does that if you are boosting into the red. Good Luck, Bernie at George Riggin Specialty Automotive
