And it's identical in fit to the 27 mm.
I've cracked them free using the starter, with a 1/2" ratchet and pipe cheater on the socket jammed up against the bodywork, with a wooden block behind the ratchet to hold the socket on the nut.
Only hit the starter for a sec, or you'll run the bolt out so far it will jam the ratchet into the firewall and you'll have to drive the wood block out to reverse it and inch back. Once cracked free even that massive bolt should spin out with just your fingers.
For holding things to retighten, I pulled the plastic clutch cover and used a pair of vise grips opened wide and locked onto the flywheel, just where it passes down into the lower half of things so it jams up against the bell housing.
To cut the big socket down, mark it on the outside with a file. Then put it in a vise and a sawzall makes a quick job of it. The file notch keeps the blade from skating around on the chrome.
Earlier cars, I think thru 1989, used 30mm socket, I think that's 1 1/8". Try buying the American size as many auto parts stores, not just Sears, don't have the bigger metric sockets in stock.
