Regarding the distributor connection, don't be too impressed with the molded connector and shielded wire, use whatever you have at hand to make a solid, weather-proof connection to the three small wires in the distributor and it will work fine. The later cars used a more common rectangular connector and I've yet to find a source for the old oval one. Also, the ignition will work just fine if the cable is repaired with ordinary, unshielded copper wire spliced in (or you can wrap it with aluminum foil if you disagree). If the rest of the engine harness is badly damaged then your best bet is to remove one from a salvage car but splicing it in is a lot of work. If it's just slightly damaged then the sensible approach is to repair the damaged bits. Go to eagleday dot come, they have lots of useful original type AMP connectors and such.
