Windshield Replacement - DIY?

The windshield on my 92 900S is broken and must be replaced. Safelight quoted $300, but in addition to the cost I wonder if they really know how to do the job right on these old cars with rubber gaskets.
Am I crazy to considering doing it myself? If I could do it, where could I get the glass at a good price? I saw from other threads that the gasket can be re-used, which is nice.
Thanks.
