It's original. The hood on my black '89 is original and has the same crazing right over the turbo. It gives it a nice patina, sort of like craquelure on a painting or the varnish of a fine old Italian fiddle.
However, the roof on mine had been repainted at some point, as evidenced by black paint on the sunroof gasket (which I found on inspecting it when I got it home from New Jersey). The roof has star cracks that go right down to the metal. *That* was a bad repaint. Humbug!
