It's hard for me to say without being able to work it, but I'd say the butterfly is hitting the throat of the TB. Perhaps it is a low mileage TB and not worn to the point the butterfly could stick. So you have brass against aluminum, and you know what will win that battle, so the sooner you fix the adjusting screw the better. Hard to say if it will hurt the TPS or not -- depends upon how much spring tension the throttle return is putting on the mechanism.
Well, good luck and glad that things are on the mend. There are only a hundred things that can go wrong ( maybe more ) and it sounds like it might be on the way back to normal behavior.
