Right rear floor floods in heavy rain Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Wed, 12 Aug 2015 08:23:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This is on a 1986 900S 4-door. When we get a really heavy downpour I'm getting the right rear passenger footwell flooded with water. Only a matter of time until it becomes a Fred Flinstone special at this rate. (I have the car out in the sun right now with the door open to dry out.)
There is no evidence of water leakage around the sunroof or anywhere else. The door seals look OK, though maybe after 30 years not quite doing the job. (Doors are not wet.) What's the most likely source of the water intrusion?
I guess failing all else, sitting inside the car during the next downpour might be a way to find out...
ADDENDUM: I found that the rear of the passenger front seat cushion is also wet. So maybe water is getting past the sunroof, dripping onto the seat cushion and from there to the floor? There's no dampness in the headliner.
