Only fires up on release of key from starter position
Posted by julian marshall [Email] (more from julian marshall) on Sun, 13 Dec 2015 07:48:36
It`s a 1992 900 n/a, 160,000 miles. The issue is in the title really, often reluctant to actually fire up until the key moves back from the starting position – it then bursts into life. The problem is probably worse in cold damp weather ( I`m in the North of England, so not uncommon …)
I have found a write up of a solution which seems to identify this exact fault, and gives a solution : http://www.thesaabsite.com/faqs/900/FAQ--ignition-category--ignition-problems-%26-hard-starting-repair.html?id=646
I`m a bit reluctant to distrurb the fuse box & fit another relay in there, so was wondering if there might be a simpler option – perhaps just taking a feed from another source which is only live when ignition is on & connecting in parallel with the existing green/white coil wire.
Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks, Julian
