First, I commend you Derek900 for using your turn signal. :-)
I agree that repair may be a good option. Depending on the year, it may be difficult to fully remove the old switch. If it is '92 up, the cruise control harness connection can be a chore to reach. It is zip-tied to the column surround inside the dash. If you remove the steering wheel and have a ling necked pair of snippers you can clip the zip-tie and get it out. Otherwise, you have to go in from under the dash which is also no picnic. The older cars had a little access panel beneath the steering column that made it easy to reach. If your car has the access panel, replacing the switch is the best option.
If you have a Dremel and good dexterity, you can make the repair while the switch is hanging from the cruise harness without fully removing it. It requires drilling out a couple cast rivets, dremelling the detents deeper, reassembling and using a couple small screws in the place of the rivets. I've done it on at least three switches that are still functioning great.
