I'd, also, recommend repairing the switch. The repair instructions I found were entirely adequate to take a junkyard switch and rehab it.
As mentioned in the instructions, you'll need a drill bit the right size to open up the switch, and a tap if you choose to screw the case shut rather than glue it or try to get the screws to tap their way into the switch body.
The only other unique tool that I'd recommend finding is a small (~1.5mm) flat-ended round file, As mentioned elsewhere, there are curved portions/detents of the cast alumimum switch body that wear, as the spring-loaded ball of the stalk rolls into them. That wear keeps the stalk from being secure.
The round file let's you recurve the detents; a small grinding stone or perhaps sandpaper around a drill bit would work.
