once while cleaning up the floor on the drivers side I cut through that sam type plastic hose. I slide a rubber fuel line over it and clamped it off. never leaked. Seems you could slide the same size hose and clamp it off and have the rubber hose be at the end of your line and 2 inches overlapping should work. If not clean and dry real well and with the fuel line still on coat with a little JB weld. That's what I would try. Used to know the size diameter hose to slide over the plastic. Thinking it was 7 or 9 mm
