It sounds like there is more than one thing going on with the various issues, and not one smoking gun.
I've never seen a setup with the coil mounted in conjunction with the amplifier. The first thing that came to mind was interference from the coil to the amplifier. From just a guess, I'd say that was a homemade bracket combining the two out of some sort of unguided method to repair the problems you are having right now? Do you have any history on the previous owner's repair tickets? Is this a recent acquisition?
So, what happens when you spray the keyboard air ( ice cold spray ) on the iggy amp -- does it start any better?
Before you start throwing money at parts, I'd do that, as well as make a plan to return the coil and iggy amp to the stock locations. There are reasons that the iggy amp was located on the inner fender well, and the coil up on top of the core cowl to be close to the distributor.
