You have to make sure you surgically remove them from boneyard cars......the rubber tubes are best clipped off in the car, and then carefully using a sharp knife to weaken the remainder to get it off on the bench.
If you haven't taken one of these off, it is a puzzle --- it won't come right off after all disconnected -- look for an indent in the circular sheet metal and then rotate the plastic assembly so you can use that indent to aid the removal. Of course the last thing you need to do is be forceful.
Like RS says, it might last, might not. Think about what your time is worth to go to the boneyard, struggle with the removal, and all the other distruptions rather than just buying a new part. I have a $300 winter beater that I've put $3000 worth of parts in, so I feel your pain on the spending ratio to value. I have to drive over 50 miles to a boneyard, and the weather sucks.....bought another couple hundy from eeuro last night......
