New project, black soot and water out the exhaust. Posted by K-Saab [Email] (#1142) [Profile/Gallery] (more from K-Saab) on Sat, 30 Jan 2016 03:26:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Another 1986 SPG has found its way into my driveway. This one, like the first one I bought 14 years ago also arrived on a trailer. I'm always up for a good challenge.
Problem. The car had not been run for a year or so. I'm getting a lot of black soot, water and stinky/fuel smell out the back. The plugs are all full of black soot. I cleaned the k&N air filter. Research shows this is a fuel related issue.
Questions. Any harm done on taking it out on the highway for thirty minutes and cleaning out the carbon and warming things up a bit?
Should I do a compression check right away?
The oil is clean and the water out the exhaust does not appear to be antifreeze.
Trying to save another SAAB.
