The "Main" fan is the one on the right, passengers side - it is Thermostatically Controlled and cools the engine. The fan on the left (Drivers Side) is the Auxiliary Fan, which operates when the A/C is on or to assist the Main fan when necessary.
Have you checked both fuses (#25 & #6) - both 30 amp? To test operation of the passengers (right/Main) fan, short across the thermoswitch at the left (drivers) side of the radiator. It should run when the engine is warm. Does the passengers side fan rotate pretty easily? See Bentley 261-4. I haven't seen it in print, but I would expect the passengers/righ side/Main/Engine cooling fan to be the one to continue running after ignition is off, and ONLY if the engine is placing a "more cooling" demand on it.But - I can't prove much of this. Vern
