I reverse bleed from slave back to M/C... Posted by walt [Email] (#2707) [Profile/Gallery] (more from walt) on Fri, 13 May 2016 10:07:19 In Reply to: Re: ANOTHER Clutch Issue...Help, Andrew86, Fri, 13 May 2016 08:00:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
using 1/4-inch ID clear Tygon tube on the slave bleed screw that is taped with teflon thread tape so that it is open until I tighten it down. To apply presssure at slave I use a 60mL syringe, but a pressure bleeder or bicycle pump works OK if enough hose is used to keep brake fluid out of pump. After observing that no more bubbles come out the brake M/C resevoir from clutch M/C feed line, I fully tighten the slave bleeder screw. Then there is usually a firm, high clutch pedal.
If slave is leaking, brake fluid will be evident on tranny bell housing beneath it on inside the rubber boot around the slave spring. Also slave must be fully tightened down to tranny housing with 3 allen cap screws or slave will blow out its back seal. Also have to be careful removing pressure plate diaphragm spring spacer or you can over-extend slave piston and ruin the seals, requiring having to do whole clutch job again with new/repaired slave.
