I performed a similar repair, although the rust hole was limited to the floorpan itself so less structural concern. I went with POR 15, JB weld, and some sheet metal. I used rivets instead of screws. Pre-drilled rivet holes, slathered on the JB Weld and then quickly riveted the patch into place. Followed up with more JB weld underneath to make sure all edges were sealed as well as possible. It seems a good option to keep a car going as long as structurally it's ok. Floors were dry last I saw, and sold the car to someone w/ full disclosure of repair...
