You can check for resistance loss with a multimeter. The charge that your alternator is cranking out might not be making it all the way to your battery.
I followed some posts in this forum about resistance loss when I was having charge problems last year. I replaced the positive and negative cables on my '87 and '92 900s and was amazed at how better the '87 ran. The lights were brighter, the windows suddenly raised and lowered much more quickly and the car seemed to just drive better.
I had a sizeable resistance problem in one of the positive cables and a replacement solve the problem.
I also like turbocon86's suggestion about checking your regulator. Extract that thing to see how the brushes are doing.
