I think in an ideal world, it probably would be better. But, PTC fittings are widely used on multi-hundred psi systems and should be safe at 90psi... and I think if there was a concern about using these fittings under "normal" fuel system scenarios there would be a notice about that.
Specifically, in my situation, we don't have fuel system icing problems here in Sacramento and this splice will be on the return line which is not under pressure so I'm not even a little worried. ;)
If I get some free time maybe I will torture test one of these things and see how it fails. Obviously it won't happen with fuel, but I can put a couple hundred psi of air and see if it holds. ;) (On that note, P2C fittings are how the airbags on my Cadillac are assembled, and they have been handling 200psi for many, many years now without incident. :)
