What I have learned over the years -
E-code is European spec.
US regs have something in them about light projection to illuminate
overhead signs. So alone on a dark country road you've got light all over.
European code - I'm not sure of regs, but they have a flat topped low beam
that flares up on the RH for roadside light. I think the high beam is also more focused without the 'up' portion as in US code.
In the 'old' days E-codes were the H-4 bulb light when US reg was sealed beam. Saabs sold in Canada came with e-code lights as far as I can tell.
