The Great Tensioner (and Chain) Crossroads
Posted by Judge Edo (more from Judge Edo) on Thu, 11 May 2017 13:36:41
I've read some differing opinions regarding timing tensioner measurement and what to do. (I'm in the middle of a head gasket/drilling exhaust stud job, 190k) my tensioner is about 12mm out. On one hand I could roll in a chain right now regardless of cam timing and be fine, on the other it might be too much worry as i haven't noticed excessive noise or anything else from the engine (and it could be the guides which I'm not doing). I also saw that the tensioner can go a bit farther (15mm+?) out without fail, buying me plenty of time. Any opinions at this crossroads?
