I was able to find the opening and check the timing. My first look gave a reading around 5 deg. Then it jumped to 15 deg...and back...and forth.
What would cause the timing reading to fluctuate like that? I have as I mentioned earlier just replaced the plugs, wires, rotor and distributor cap.
I don't notice any irregularities when I drive the car other than when sitting at a stop light, I'll get a sudden drop in rpm. Maybe 200rpm...but it immediately recovers and may not do it again until the next stop light. It did this before I completed the ignition work mentioned above and still does.
