Have been through this a number of times with my 93's. As a previous post mentioned, if you pull the CD/EQ it will make the head unit not operate properly....will need to at minimum re-enter code at every turn on and will most likely not operate at all....as the system is intragrated not allowing one to work correctly without the other.
Options are to get the adapter pictured earlier which will be a b---- to find or send the EQ/CD off to Saab Radio in Utica, NY for repair. They are a site sponsor for Saabnet. Have used them before and Wasyl (?) the owner knows his stuff. Always has a great stock of parts available to fix the units. Not the cheapest place around but will get done right and comes with a warranty.
Buying a used one is a crap shoot at best as the newest installed unit is now 23 years old. If it were me, I would have your unit redone as you know what is wrong with it.
Good luck!
