'89 900S, I've recently been experiencing some strange phenomena. Specifically, and sporadically, I'll start the car and it's all good-- I got tach, I got no warning lights on the dash, signals and windows work, etc. On other occasions, though, I start the car, the tach is dead, the window controls and signals don't work, and the Parking Brake and Brake Fluid warning lights are continuously on-- as if I hadn't even started the car. Sometimes that condition persists for the ~30 min commute to work, I come out at end of the day, start it and all's good. Other times I'll be down the road 5-15 minutes and the problems magically go away. A quick shut-off and restart at, say, a red light doesn't resolve the problem and the throttle at idle goes into hunting mode.
WTF? I'm at a loss to even begin troubleshooting this problem. Could be the ignition switch itself (perhaps it fails to transmit that it's in "Run" position) or some downstream component. For all I know, it could be related to/caused by the recent R&R I did on my turn signal stalk that has, when working, restored my ability to signal turns and lane changes. I've really come to appreciate that functionality and I'm sure other drivers in my midst appreciate it as well.
Any hints/guidance? Thanks in advance,
Scott
