Your back pressure comment reminds me of a common problem in my old Jaguar XJ6 models. They were equipped with an assembly that lived under the rear parcel shelf and had multiple vents exiting through the boot area. There were four flaps that stayed closed by gravity and when the car door was closed the back pressure was vented through these flaps.
The flaps and assembly were made of metal. When the foam insulation dry-rotted away from the flaps they would slap against the assembly when you closed the door and make this tinkling noise. It was commonly known as the "cow bell" problem. This was somewhat distressing as it was not very Jaguar-esque.
