Technically, there is no idle adjustment screw. What appears to be a way to control idle speed is a stop adjustment to make sure the butterfly doesn't go overcenter. That doesn't mean someone used it that way when something else was wrong and it appeared to compensate. Take a look in the Bentley, it shows the purpose of the overcenter stop adjustment.
On an 8 valve engine, there is a an idle set with a bolt / jamnut that is for air bypass.
