Thanks to everyone that responded! Yes, I think slow and steady is the way to go. I can do some of the work myself to help reduce the total project total cost and spread a significant portion of the costly stuff out. I was just hoping to get the trans built to the max extent possible and have the motor get a good rebuild now. The rest of it I am fine with waiting on.

I will probably just have to skip some of the transmission upgrades like the trans cooler and Audubon gears.

As far as I know the trans is still fine, but the motor is probably toast. I have to get a new slave cylinder in it before I can determine if there is anything wrong beyond just a head gasket.
